About Kaaunri Kanya: Kaaunri Kanya means, a girl possessed through kaaunri bidya (black magic). This film is based on village legends & supernatural myths claiming to be true. It depicts the superstitious beliefs prevailing in the rural parts and where even now such practices of witchcraft and sorcery are taken seriously. These uperstitions also lead to killing of innocent in the names of practicing black magic. It weaves in the blind beliefs and existence of supernatural powers seamlessly questioning whether these are just superstitions or something real and unseen beyond our visual & sensory realm.

Synopsis: This story revolves around Riya and her Doctor husband Akash who is transferred to a rural location. Some unnatural events start occurring in their daily lives and making Riya the most affected of it and getting possessed. With the help of Dr.Rajiv, a senior psychiatrist, Akash discovers a reason behind the occurrences and comes to know about a village boy Ravi & his love interest Anusuya who was killed by the villagers blaming her of witchcraft. This film takes you forward with events that led to her killing and how Akash overcomes the possession of Riya.

(The first lalpanbibi made in 1986 by prasanta nanda was a super duper hit and the songs also, the music was by legendary music director swarup naik and the songs are penned by swarup naik, prasanta nanda and debdas chhotray, the title song “naila upare daila kari baji maribi…”and another song “neta ethi janata nku maruchhanti dandi….”was in the blood of odisa and had become the state anthem.)

 

This time the music will be given by trend setter Abhijit Majumdar the music director of “balunga toka” “rangila toka” “love master” etc. the lyric will be penned by DR NIRMALA NAYAK “aaibu lo aaibu lo………” “ribbon fita…” “kichhi hau hau kichhi helare lai lai la ………..” , and NIJAM “hrudaya ra ehi sunyata ku……………” “nali nali sabu disuchhi……….” .

Avijit said team of lalpan bibi wait for me a month and shift the mahurat, as they are giving importance to song so much, now it is our responsibility to thrill and fill the heart of odisha from lalpanbibi.

Avijit added it is always difficult to create a title song after a establish hit title song, but we will try our best to place a new taste and essence of lalpan bibi keeping in mind as it was never in the market.

Dr Nirmala Nayak said writing lyric is always a science and art at a time. The story and the plot are creating atmosphere for nice and entertaining lyric.

Nijam said this time we will keep the hit record on, of the trio “avijit,nijam,nirmal” .

Director abhishek said Avijit da is very cooperative and my team is feeling a good vibration with him, the songs will also vibrate the audience.

Producers said we want to make a commercial hit movie so we chose the best.

Daha Balunga is the upcoming Odia movie produced by Pupinder Singh, Daha Balunga is directed by Sudhakar Basant, the movie has Babushaan and Bollywood Fame Jackie Shroff in the lead, apart from them, Bijay Mohanty, Tandra Ray, Uttam Mohanty, Aparajita, Ankeeta Mukherjee are there in the cast list. This movie would be made in two languages i.e Odia as well as Bengali. Pupinder Singh has waited a long time to get a schedule from Bollywood star Jackie Shroff. The songs of Daha Balunga would be composed by none other then Abhijeet Majumdar, Story by Bapu Goswami.
